ProphetStor and TCIT Partner
MILPITAS, CA and TAIPEI, TAIWAN, June 04, 2015 — ProphetStor Data Services, Inc. and Taiwan Colour & Imaging Technology Corporation (TCIT) today announced that the companies have signed a strategic alliance agreement to co-develop and co-market integrated video surveillance cloud solutions that combine ProphetStor Federator® SDS software and TCIT image and voice recognition technologies.
ProphetStor Federator SDS is a suite of data services software that includes storage orchestration, storage virtualization, I/O traffic modeling, elastic resource control, business continuity, disaster recovery, data migration, and copy management. Through this alliance, TCIT will license ProphetStor’s patented and patent-pending software-defined storage technologies to create a large-scale private cloud architecture for both industrial and commercial video surveillance applications.
“Storage management has always been a major pain point for our customers,” said Dr. Steve Shaw, TCIT chairman. “The traditional approach of installing many individual NVR (Network Video Recorder) appliances required to support the number of video cameras proves inefficient, especially in a large deployment, and incapable when it comes to leveraging recorded video footages for advanced analytics workloads. Although TCIT has been widely successful in enabling individual NVRs to perform real-time video recognition tasks locally, carrying out holistic analyses across the storage devices attached to separate NVRs is cumbersome, if possible at all. Through industry-standard HTML REST APIs, ProphetStor’s technologies afford us an extremely cost-effective solution to consolidate the NVR storage into a centrally managed platform, greatly increasing the efficiency and flexibility of data access.”
“We are extremely pleased to partner with TCIT,” said Dr. Eric Chen, ProphetStor CEO. “Video surveillance is one of the most important use cases for ProphetStor. Moving physical NVRs into the cloud is merely the first step for realizing the vast amount of new possibilities only possible in a virtualized environment. It is the ability to integrate the video recording services with an enterprise-grade storage system that truly unlocks the full potential of the cloud-based surveillance system. With ProphetStor Federator SDS, our goal is to enable TCIT to focus on delivering cutting-edge video technologies while taking storage management and data retrieval for granted.”
